Dear Brother Knights;
I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving. I hope you take this opportunity to spend time with your families and friends.
It has been awhile since I have updated the GK blog, but that by no means our council has not been busy. Special thanks to Program Director Brother Dan Speeth. He has a great handle on our programs for this fraternal year and we are well on our way to filling the in categories the State Council suggests, but most of all our programs are making a difference in our community. And that my Brothers is what really matters.
Our food drive held in early was great success. Not only did out council make a donation of toilet paper and laundry detergent, but the parishioners came out in a big way as well. We ended up filling the sorting room in the basement of rectory. It was a sight to behold. Our annual family picnic was a fantastic event as well. It was by far the best picnic we ever held. There were well over 75 people in attendance. By far the biggest turn out ever. Special thanks to Brothers Carmen Matteo, Carl Gulas, Dave Thein, Dan Speeth for cooking and preparing the food. A great big thank you to Ron Czarnecki and Mel Travers for the game ideas. A fun time was had by all.
September was on the quieter side, but a lot of time was spent planning for October and November activities.
The Officer Installation was held on 10/13/17 in the church and the Officers and their families enjoyed a no host dinner at Stancato’s afterwards. Our annual Wing Ding fundraiser was held on 10/28/17 that event was a great success as well. The council took in nearly $2200.00 into our general fund. I am sure we will put the money into good use very soon. We held a membership blitz the weekend of 10/21 & 10/22 were we planted many seeds. Dennis Kaliszewski was voted in and made his First Degree by video in our chamber on 11/8/17. Welcome Brother Dennis! Joseph Moore also signed a form 100 on 11/19/17, resulting from a conversation I had with on membership blitz weekend.
We prayed the Holy Rosary before the November business meeting and held a quarterly Mass on 11/19/17. We prayed the Holy Rosary again before the 10:00 am Mass, which was offered for our deceased members. The families and friends of our deceased members were well represented that morning.
